Michelle has always been a private person. She never intrudes on anyone’s business, and has just wanted the same curiosity in return. Her sexuality shouldn’t be an issue, and she’ll never understand why it is. During her freshman year of high school, she and her best friend made the decision to take things to the next level. After that, it was a blur. The two were inseparable, but their passionate nature also made them careless. They both knew how strict Allison’s mother was, and they were usually more careful, but one night changed it all. She came home early and the two had been making out on the couch. Allison’s older sister, Elizabeth, quickly stepped in to protect her younger sister. After that night, after the things Allison’s mother said to her, Michelle stopped going by her name and chose to go by her middle name instead: Grace.

Although she has always been the type of girl who will keep to herself, Grace became even more so of a hermit after the incident took place. Although they only moved to the next town over, she switched schools and wanted a fresh start. She couldn’t blame Allison for what happened, and she thought she was doing the right thing by not telling her any information about the move. Grace lives in the land of books. She wouldn’t be caught dead at a party; instead, she can be found quietly reading on her bed on a Friday night. She has a few friends, mostly ones that she sees in school only, and doesn’t bother with friendships. Realistically, she knows how little high school will mean in a few years, so she’s not going to make a fool out of herself and sleep with every guy in the school- not that she’d even want to. Grace is a hopeless romantic. She believes in soul mates and finding “the one” and all of that nonsense. She can’t help but believe Allison was her soul mate, at times, but if that were true, she convinces herself, wouldn’t they still be together now?

Grace grew up in a very conservative household. She was very loved by her parents, but they kept a close eye on her. They wanted the best for her, but often pushed her away with their need to control every aspect of her life. They’re not bad parents, by any measure, but they usually choose to ignore her wants and desires. They’re also very religious and believe that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. Needless to say, they were very surprised when Allison’s mother called and screamed at them for having a tramp of a daughter. Even though Grace tried to tell them that she simply didn’t feel anything toward boys, but loved girls, they are in denial. They think that this is her rebelling, and trying to express herself. They have no idea that this is genuinely who she is, and for that she slightly resents them. After all, if her own parents can’t accept her, who will? Regardless, she tries her best to maintain a positive relationship with the two, at least while she’s stuck living under their roof.
